Caring creative work!

Richard from Green Retreats Landscapes looked after the renewal of patios, steps and the outline of borders to replace the aged and crumbling layout in the back garden when we moved into our house. He also did some work in the front garden.

In the planning stage he was creative but attentive to our needs and suggestions. He was painstaking in his clearance of the site and during the hard landscaping. He was very imaginative when unforeseen modifications to the plan were required. This is not easy at the best of times but we also had some extremely wet weather!

He laid a small lawn, positioned a rotary dryer (in just the right place) and was good to have around. We are delighted with the work he did and have recommended him to neighbours, just as other neighbours recommended him to us, and that is why we have submitted this testimonial.

We had thought about having a complete rework of our rear garden for some time but were not confident we could find the right person/company. However, having found and used Richard of Green Retreats previously, to redesign and landscape our front garden, we had no doubts in using him again to do this work.

We wanted someone to redesign our front garden and make less maintenance while pleasing on the eye. Also to include some rainwater drainage work and a hard standing for occasional car use.

Natural pond, path and planting

This project; delivered by Richard, Green Retreats Landscapes, to advise, design and deliver our chosen landscape option.

Richard is clearly very knowledgeable and capable and over five weeks he transformed our square of grass into a rich oasis of plants, along with a feature pathway, natural pond and waterfall.

This was all done with minimum fuss, the site always left tidy and at the end of the project there was nothing for us to clean which can often be the case.

We’re extremely pleased with Green Retreats Landscapes and their project delivery which started with a consultation/design and finished with an amazing garden space.

We wanted a modern looking useable garden with minimal plants and maintenance required and space to build a social area with pergola, BBQ etc in the future. We were presented with options for flagstones, fence panels etc and that really made choosing the final materials so much better.

Green Retreats Landscapes redesigned my entire back garden and then carried out the hard landscaping.

Elements included a natural stone patio, brick and gravel pathways, retaining walls to level a sloping site, planting beds, a water feature and turfed lawn.

Rich produced an excellent design reflecting my requirements. During the build, regular discussions refined the design to the benefit of the final result. Nothing was too much trouble.

After having an awful experience where a landscaper took our money and did not carry out the work I was hesitant to arrange another. I needn’t have worried, the team were aware and carried out the work brilliantly. They have transformed what was a total wasteland to something so beautiful.

Back garden redesign

Absolutely delighted with Richard's work and would recommend Green Retreats Landscapes without hesitation.

Richard interpreted the brief (remove lawn and replace with limestone paving and generous borders) and somehow managed to produce, in a garden some 1m wide and 6 to 9m deep, distinct rooms accessed by meandering paths interspersed with borders. Perfect and so much more interesting than the brief!

From the initial design through to completion, Richard was proactive and engaged in the project. He took time to discuss the detail on an ongoing basis and his workmanship is first class.

I am thrilled with the result.

Complete redesign and construction

From the initial 3D design to completion of the work, Richard worked tirelessly to clear everything from the garden before rebuilding new raised beds, then constructing a pergola, patio and path.

He installed a new soaraway at a lower depth replacing the existing bag of rubble with purpose built crates. Finally laying a new lawn. All of this was completed in the worst possible conditions throughout the wettest October and November known.

He worked alone, came everyday (including weekends sometimes) and his advice was invaluable throughout.

We felt that he wanted to create a garden that reflected our taste, not just a generic design. The designs were exactly what we had discussed and the detail in the quote made it very easy to add/remove to meet our budget.

From the initial consultation/design of our garden, Rich was so easy to work with. He worked with us and nothing seemed to faze him.
